affiliate business modelAre you thinking about starting an affiliate business?

If so, it’s absolutely essential that you fully understand the affiliate business model before you begin your website, so that you know exactly what it is you’re getting yourself into.

When I first started, I stumbled about thinking that affiliate marketing was a quick route to riches, only to find that the reality didn’t match at all what I was envisioning.

Here are few points to consider to make sure the real business opportunity lines up with your expectations of it.

It Will Take Months Before You Earn A Dime

The first thing I want to be 100% clear about is that the affiliate marketing business model is not a route to overnight success.

Most affiliates don’t earn anything for the first one or two months when they’re just starting out. Unfortunately, that’s when most people get discouraged and give up on their projects. The reality is that not earning any money for the first few months of a new website is par for the course, even for affiliate experts.

The reason has to do with the natural way that websites grow over time. So, if you’re going to build an affiliate website, make sure that you’re in it for the long haul.

Real Wealth Isn’t Difficult…Eventually

The second point to consider is that making money online is actually insanely easy.

Yes, you read that right. I’m a firm believer that just about anyone can build real wealth online. I’m not just talking about a few hundred dollars on the side, I’m talking about real six and seven figure incomes. You just have to know what you’re doing.

That said, getting to that point takes time and persistence. You’re not going to make six figures in your first year working online. That’s because the real power of the affiliate business model lies with how website earnings will compound and grow over time.

Every page, post, or website you produce has the ability to generate dividends for you. For any single piece of content, those earnings are likely to be small, but as you build a larger authority site, or a series of small niche sites, all of your hard work begins to come together to form consistent, reliable income that will grow steadily for years.

Do You Have What It Takes?

Finally, I want to point out that not everyone has what it takes to be a successful internet marketer.

While you can learn every skill you need, the real challenge is in persistence.

In order to be successful, you need to be willing to spend a few months working confidently towards your aims, without seeing any monetary return. Then, when you do start earning some money, it will be in small chunks here and there for a while.

This phase is what’s known as “the sandbox” as is one of the #1 reasons new marketers fail. It has nothing to do with knowing how to market products online or how to write a good blog post. It’s simply the day to day, block and tackle execution you need to be successful.

But then again, you need persistence to be successful at anything, right?

If you think you have what it takes and are willing to commit to that type of business, there are tons of resources available to help you get started. You can find my favorite free course in this post. Sign up today and I’ll see you on the other side!
