earning_money_online_takes_hard_workOne of my biggest pet peeves about earning money online is the fact that so many people think that online business opportunities are either:

  1. Chances to earn free money without working, or
  2. Get rich quick schemes.

It’s no wonder that if that’s their perception, they’re going to think that legitimate opportunities are nonexistent and everyone who works in internet marketing is a scam artist.

The pet peeve is that this myth could not be further from the truth.

Earning Money Online Takes Hard Work

In order to earn a full time income online you need to work full time. There’s no bones about it. If you’re trying to get away with working a few hours a week and earning tens of thousands of dollars a month, then you’re probably going to end up being duped into a scam of some sort.

Earning Money Online Takes Time

Not only does it take a lot of work to start earning money online, it also takes a lot of time. I don’t just mean hours of your life spent in front of a computer screen, I mean time-horizon time.

With a few rare exceptions, websites do not become successful overnight. Traffic levels grow predictably over time, and the overwhelming majority of people do not break even in their first six months of online entrepreneurship.

That shouldn’t deter you:¬†every legitimate business takes time to set up. Even companies that seem like they are an overnight success often have months, if not years of behind the scenes work that was put in by their founders. Don’t be fooled into thinking that there’s some magic formula separate you from the herd.

You Need to Be Committed to Your Business

One of my college professors always used to say:

When you make bacon and eggs, the chicken makes a contribution but the pig makes a commitment. Now…are you committed?

Ok, so maybe you don’t need to be quite as committed as the pig is to your bacon, but you need to put in a serious effort. That means two things:

  1. Effort means getting up and going to work online everyday, just as you would a normal job. Whether you want to build your business in your spare time or make it a full time income source, you should set a schedule and stick to it.
  2. Effort also means education. You can’t just put up random websites and hope traffic magically comes. There is a lot of information on proven ways to generate traffic. You need to commit to learning that information¬†over time. Click here for access to a great free course.

So the question is, are you ready to start building your business? The work and time you put in today can pay off for years, but you do have to put in that work. If you’re ready to start earning money online, click here to learn how to get started.
