I love this question for two reasons:
- It shows the true potential of blogging, and
- It helps show that blogs are not get rich quick schemes.
So, what’s the answer?
Blogging Is Hard Work
Don’t let anyone fool you: there is no easy way to earn passive income online.
Becoming successful (truly successful, as in 6 figures or more per year) is a lot of work.
Yes, you can earn a little bit of side income in your spare time, just by writing a few posts a week, but you’ll never make it to the level of “professional” if you only update your website once in a blue moon.
Want a quick and dirty frame of reference? For starters you should assume anywhere from $0.50 to $1 per post per month.
Income Depends On Your Approach and Niche
Giving an exact answer about how much you can earn and how many articles it takes to achieve your goal is difficult because it varies so much on your approach and niche.
If you use a proven method that includes a solid revenue strategy, you can have a site that produces a nice side income with only 50-100 posts.
If you want to make a full time living blogging, however, you’ll need to write much, much more, and you may want to consider developing multiple sites to work with, rather than putting your eggs in one basket.
The Best Way
In my opinion, the best and fastest way to earn money from your blog in the fewest number of posts is to work with a good affiliate marketing program.
The reason this works so well is because you’ll be able to identify product (revenue) opportunities that closely tie into what your user base is looking for.
The close the match, the more money you can earn from less work.
