In this post I’ll cover the basics of what to expect from the life of an online marketer.

What Affiliate Marketing Is NOT
Affiliate marketing is NOT a get a rich quick scheme.
You will not be able to earn money without working for it, and you won’t be able to earn anything by the end of the week.
If you can get those two facts into your head, you’re halfway there to understanding the real truth about internet marketing and passive income.
What To Expect In Terms of Work
Yes, affiliate marketing is extremely flexible.
You can work 3 hours a week or 30 or 100 and still be able to earn real income. How much you earn is up to you.
As long as you’re taking the right steps and following a clear schedule, there’s a direct correlation between the amount of work you put in and the rate at which your website will grow.
In other words, more work = more money. At least when you’re starting out. Don’t expect to earn millions if you’re only committing to a few hours a week.
The passive income element kicks in later.
What To Expect In Terms Of Income
I also want to make it very, very clear that affiliate marketing isn’t a way to earn quick cash.
It’s a technique for building a long term business that will earn you dividends for many years.
At first, you will not be making a lot of money. For that reason I don’t recommend that anyone quit their job tomorrow to become an online marketer.
You need a runway of at least 6 months before you’ll start to see enough revenue to make an impact in your day to day spending habits.
After a year, you’ll have compounded enough work to really be on your way to massive passive income.
But probably not before then…unless you win the lottery.
My Main Point
Yes, affiliate marketing is a real opportunity.
No, it isn’t free money.
You have to earn your way to success. If you commit and stay focused, you will succeed.
