Identify What You’re Looking For

This may seem counterintuitive, but the most important part of choosing which course you want to take has absolutely nothing to do with the courses themselves. It has to do with understanding what you need and want from a program.

List Your Goals

Before deciding between Wealthy Affiliate or Affilorama, take a few minutes to list what you’re hoping to gain from the course. Are you looking to gain experience, exposure, support, or technical help? Are you looking to learn the basics for your first site or take the leap from being a beginner to becoming a more advanced marketer?

I strongly recommend you physically write down a list to make it more tangible. It’s fine to have some ideas in your head, but when you make them concrete, you’ll more clearly define and implement them.

Prioritize the List

Once you have a list written down, it’s time to prioritize each aspect on it. If you have your personal, prioritized list laid out before you compare the pros and cons of each system, then you’ll have an easier job deciding which is right for you.

I want to point out that it’s ok to have multiple goals that are high priorities, but try to rank each objective as best you can. If too many goals are all the same priority level, it can be hard to weigh the relative merit of each program against the other.

Wealthy Affiliate vs Affilorama

Now that you have your list, it’s time to run through the features of each program. I’ve covered the details of what’s included in each on more extensive review pages, and both programs include many of the items below, so this is just a quick guide of which program I see coming out in front for several categories:

Step-by-Step, Actionable Items: Wealthy Affiliate

wealthy_affiliate_lesson_exampleAffilorama goes into more depth on the theory behind the practices the present, answering why certain aspects of internet marketing function the way they do, while Wealthy Affiliate focuses almost exclusively on getting you to take that next crucial step.

Both approaches are important, and which is right for you is going to depend a lot on what level you’re at with your internet marketing skills, as well as your personality. If you need a kick in the butt to get started, WA walks you through the essential tasks in a way you practically can’t screw it up, whereas Affilorama gives you tasks and the theory behind them, so the implementation is put more into your hands.

Active Community: Wealthy Affiliate

wealthy_affiliate_community_discussionWealthy Affiliate is the hands down winner when comes to having an active support community. While Affilorama also has an extensive community, the group at WA is extremely active, and most questions you have will be answered in a matter of minutes.

The major leg up here is that the WA system encourages their users to create on-site blogs, host seminars, and develop trainings to leverage the expertise of their experienced users. The result is a tremendous amount of information on a variety of topics.

Extensive Software: Affilorama

the_affilorama_reviewWealthy Affiliate provides some support software, but it’s primarily an introduction to their add-on product for keyword research: Jaaxy (which also provides a great free trial).

Affilorama Premium, on the other hand, comes complete with AffiloJetpack, which provides comprehensive software that not only includes keyword tools, but extensive analytics as well, and starts to gear you towards the process of automating your site more quickly.

Affilorama’s inclusion of Jetpack tools is one of the things that really makes it stand out in my mind, especially for anyone making the transition to being a professional internet marketer.

I can’t emphasize enough that both programs are excellent courses that will improve your affiliate marketing skills. It’s important to be informed about your own objectives as much as about what each course provides, and where it stands out.
