One of the main decisions you’ll have to make is how many sites you want to build.
This post will help you decide between building an authority affiliate site or a portfolio of niche websites.
Don’t Worry About Money
There’s a huge misconception among new affiliates that in order to build massive passive income you need to have a large portfolio of sites.
They see people use example earnings numbers of $500-$1000 per site, and quickly calculate that they’ll need multiple sites in order to be successful.
This is a huge fallacy.
Many affiliate programs and instructors use these earnings numbers because they are realistic numbers that a new marketer can achieve relatively quickly.
It does NOT mean that a single site can’t earn much, much more. Either approach (authority vs. portfolio) has excellent potential to earn as much as you need.
Consider Your Personality And Working Style
Personally, I’m an idea man.
I love brainstorming new projects and figuring out the details of how to implement them. For me, it’s the day to day execution that runs the risk of becoming boring and repetitive.
Because of that outlook, I’m firmly in the portfolio camp.
But not everyone thinks the same way. If you’re the type of person that likes to settle in to the nitty gritty details of things and exploring various angles of the same topic in depth, than you’re probably more geared towards having a single authority site.
Either answer is fine. It’s just up to you.
You Can Always Change Your Mind
Also, don’t worry too much about making the perfect decision. Do what feels right for you now, and youj can always adjust later.
If you try building an authority site and run out of steam, you’re always free to move on to a different project. Alternatively, if you start a handful of sites but find you really, really, like 1 or 2 of them, feel free to put more effort into making those sites shine better than the others.
